Run for RVRR as part of our USA Track & Field Team
RVRR Members compete both as a team and individually in USA Track & Field (USATF) races. The USATF-NJ Team Grand Prix comprises a series of races of various championship distances held from March to early December.
RVRR competes against other running clubs from across the state in all Grand Prix events. Some races are championships for all divisions, meaning all teams, while others are for teams of a specific gender or age. See the table at left.
There are three different categories of races including Team races by Category, Coed Team Championships and Wildcard Races for Individuals.
Even if the championship is not for your age or gender, you can run or spectate, which is fun as you get to see other RVRR teammates out running.
Any RVRR member can run for one of the teams, no need to be a certain pace or come to a certain number of group races. The more the merrier! However, you need to be:
1.) A current RVRR member;
2.) a USATF member; and
3.) get your USATF membership verified (by sending in a scanned copy of your license to usatf@usatfnj.org) to run for the teams.
After you have that done, you just sign up for any of the races at left (as you normally would), let your team captain know you will be there, show up, run, and have fun!
The more people we have at races, the better our teams perform. Most races have fewer teams than scoring places, so having more runners increases our chances of earning points. Whether it’s your first race or your 1000th, we’d love to have you join us. You might surprise yourself with a new personal record! We often carpool to and from races and meet for food or drinks after. Check the Facebook page or your email for details. Many team members wear RVRR gear, but it’s not required. Talk to your team captains for more info."
Hope to see you at a run and then a race soon! As always, please feel free to reach out to the RVRR board or talk to your team captains with any questions.
