A Truly Great Running Experience!
Starting April 17th, 2010 we start our run at 8AM FROM GROVE 5 and will continue this until the fall.
Every Saturday morning, we meet in Johnson Park in Piscataway for a group run.
During the summer, these runs will be starting at 8 a.m. from Grove 5, just south of Landing Lane. Runners should arrive by 7:50 a.m. for the 8 a.m. start.
During the winter, these runs start at 9 a.m. from the Zoo parking lot, north of Landing Lane and the Route 18 bridge. This lot is about 0.7 miles north of Landing Lane on the left, just past the horse track, and is set about 50 meters back from the main park road.
In the Spring and Fall, the location and start time varies, depending on whether the park has opened the restrooms at Grove 5. Check back here for more information and the latest details.
The run is out-and-back on the Delaware & Raritan Canal Towpath. Typical distances vary from 3 to over 20 miles and runners of all levels and speeds are welcome! Rest rooms are available at the start and along the way.
If for whatever reason (football games, special events, etc.) Johnson Park is closed/inaccessible we will meet at the Tennis Court's Parking Lot in Johnson Park, right off River Rd.
When: Every Saturday - 8AM in the Summer, 9AM in the WinterDirections to Grove 5, Johnson Park in Piscataway: To get to the park, take River Road West, into Piscataway, from Highland Park. After you pass under the Route 18 Bridge make a left at the next light onto Landings Lane. Alternatively, take Easton Avenue from Somerset going south or New Brunswick going north; Landing Lane intersects Easton Avenue at Franklin Blvd. If you wish to take Route 18 North from Route 1/NJ Turnpike, stay North until you go over the Raritan River. Once you get over the river, take the next exit for River Rd. Bear right on the exit ramp, heading West onto River Rd. Once you go under Route 18, take a left at the next traffic light onto Landing Lane, and make the first right into Johnson Park for Grove 5, left for the zoo parking lot. If the park is ever closed for any reason like a Rutgers football game, park at the tennis court parking lots by Grove 2 which are accessible from River Rd. (Click here for the various meeting locations.)
Distance: You can run forever. But don't feel pressured to do so. You can run as little or as far as you want. This does not have to be your weekly "long run". It will surely be your most pleasurable.
